The Paris Wife by Paula McLain. I absolutely loved this book! A fictionalised account of Ernest Hemingway’s marriage to Hadley Richardson, the first of his four wives. Hadley is 28 when she meets Ernest in Chicago in 1920. The newly weds experience an exciting life during the glamorous Paris Jazz age, full of artists and writers. Fascinating story.

Enjoyed a couple of glasses of Georges Dubeouf Beaujolais-Villages Nouveau 2015. Cherry, plum and raspberry with herbal notes on the nose. Lovely slightly chilled red wine for a gorgeous sunny afternoon in Subiaco.
I’ve enjoyed looking at your Instagram account. I love the concept of wine and books. The Paris wife is one of the only books that you’ve reviewed which I’ve read. I enjoyed it as did everyone in my book club. It was interesting and it led to a lively discussion. I’ve recently read Circling The Sun also by Paula Mc Lean. It was another interesting book.
Hi Melody, lovely to hear from you. Yes, I really enjoyed The Paris Wife, I will look out for Circling the Sun. Thank you! I love writing about wines and books.
