Tahbilk GSM and “Killer Look”

November 27, 2016 By Tracy Leave a Comment

Tahbilk winery is located in the Nagambie Lakes region of central Victoria and was established in 1860.  We received a bottle of Tahbilk GSM in our Wine Selectors pack – Blackberries and plums on the nose; white pepper and a musky note. The palate is full of juicy fruit flavours -plums, mulberries and raspberries. Grippy tannins, smooth finish.

“Killer Look” – As with all Linda Fairstein’s Alex Cooper books an insight into an aspect of New York runs as a thread through the story. In this the rich history of the NY fashion industry makes for a central theme as Alex still recovering from her abduction in the previous book is caught up in the suspicious suicide of fashion guru Wolf Savage. Another fascinating read from Fairstein.

Stuffed Mushrooms – Not Quite Nigella style

I’ve been following Not Quite Nigella’s blog for a while now – and having a new kitchen installed has inspired me to do a lot more cooking.  When NQN’s recipe for “Easy stuffed field mushrooms” that would only take FIVE MINUTES to prepare popped into my email inbox – I was excited. http://www.notquitenigella.com/2016/11/16/easy-stuffed-mushrooms The FWO (aka…

What a gorgeous place!  Even though @perthcafeculture has been a supporter of West Perth for longer than most people have been alive – we actually don’t venture West that often – (yes I know they play in Joondalup).  Delighted that we did on Wednesday evening.  Walked along the red carpet, welcomed with a smile and…

Queen Bees and La Vielle Ferme

We recently had a pleasant brunch @refugesmallbar – and of course had to imbibe in a La Vielle Ferme Rosé – pale salmon colour – fruity with a dry crisp finish. Queen Bees by Siân Evans – very interesting reading about 6 society hostesses set between the 1st and 2nd World Wars – review coming soon.

Enjoyed a glass of Xabregas ‘Artisan ZD’ at Halo Restaurant this week. Straw yellow – nectarines and baked apple aromas with yeasty overtones. Creamy palate, stonefruit flavours cut through with fine acid and citrus notes – gorgeous! When I am reading a book by an unfamiliar author – I like to google about them before I…

Aqua Bar

On our way home from lunch at Halo Restaurant, we spied Aqua Bar and climbed the stairs to have a quick look.  The view was amazing so we stopped for a drink to while away the afternoon, enjoying the sunshine and the magic vista. My choice was a glass of the Château Fontarèche Tradition Cuvee –…

Lamont’s Wine Store

September 12, 2016 Leave a Comment

On Sunday, I closed my fashion boutique in Guildford a tad early, and jumped on the train to attend a Picardy wine tasting at Lamont’s Wine store in Cottesloe. We were treated to a fine array of wines – my pick was the Merlimont, a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet. Lovely red fruit…
